Premier of QLD’s Export Award Finalists Announced

Core Resources has been selected as a Finalist in the 2017 Export Awards.

The Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards is an annual program that aims to recognise excellence in the export of goods and services by Queensland business. The Awards acknowledge the important contribution of businesses to the economy through job creation and increased prosperity for the community and for the state.

Chief Executive Officer for the Export Council of Australia (ECA) Lisa McAuley says “The QLD Export Awards are about rewarding businesses that have shown a commitment and determination to grow their global business and who, against adversity, seek new innovative ways to compete on the international stage,” Ms McAuley said.

Core Resources is a finalist in the ENVIRONMENTAL SOLUTIONS category for its highly innovative and unique processing technology, the Toowong Process.

The Toowong Process is being commercialised by Core to provide a solution for the urgent global problem of pollution caused by increasing contamination of mineral concentrates, particularly by arsenic. Some 60,000 tpa of contaminant arsenic is currently shipped around the world in mineral concentrates, causing widespread environmental and health risks. Currently no widely adopted and effective treatment process is available, and the Toowong Process is designed to address this urgent need. It has been widely recognised by the mining industry as a solution to this problem, and commercialisation and industry uptake activities are progressing quickly.

Winners will be announced at a prestigious gala presentation dinner on Thursday 19 October 2017 at The Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre with both the Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk MP, Premier of Queensland, Minister for the Arts and the Honourable Curtis Pitt, Queensland Treasurer and Minister for Trade & Investment as guests of honour.
